In 1983 after sales in the standard Observers Series took a dive, Warne began to republish some titles in Paperback format.....this 'new series' also included new titles, aimed at widening their market.

As with the old series, some of the titles were revised and re-issued annually, together with different pictorial covers.  Warne continued with this 'New Observer's Series' until they were finally taken over by the Penguin Group in 1987, who themselves expanded the series to 31 titles in all.

In 1992, under the Bloomsbury Press and with the familiar 'Penguin' logo on the front, yet another series developed....this time reverting back to a hardback pictorial cover.  More titles appeared the following year, and the title list reached 30.

Also in 1992 another short run of 8 titles appeared, using pictorial images from the original Warne series.

Finally, in 1996, under the Claremont Press, Penguin produced what has been regarded as the last series of Observer's Books.  Again these were published with hardback pictorial boards, and with new photographs on the covers and consisted of 12 titles.
